help with necro builds for a new necro!
Hello! I've never played as a necro before, but i am fairly experianced. I have 5 level 20's and have beaten all 4 of the games, but i am having massive trouble making builds for my new necro!
so can anyone give me any specific builds? i looked on pvx, but i didn't see any that really jumped out at me (because i really know nothing about necromancers)

it would depend mainly on what you want to focus as. necros are as versatile as other professions.you will more than likely have to change setup to something else to suit the quest/mission and fit into the party such as eotn questlines
destroyers really dont like [card]Spiteful Spirit[/card] they tend to group up and coupled with [card]Reckless Haste[/card]and [card]Arcane Echo[/card] they normally die pretty quickly
[card]Animate Flesh Golem[/card] or [card]Jagged Bones[/card]as a minion-master again has its advantages, but lacks its usefullness in a mission such as nahpui quarter due to mainly, lack of corpses (imo the majority of foes are the celestials) but for vizunah square where there is an abundance of corpses just waiting to be exploited,an MM in a team for this mission is pretty common
[card]Blood Is Power[/card] /[card]Well Of Power[/card] is another possibility for a build. instead of being front line making minions,or casting spiteful spirit on mobs. you can also stay back and become whats known as a *battery*. good builds will have you with pretty low health but with the addition of enchantments and delving into dervish or monk as a secondary profession, you can easily provide health and energy regen to your entire team and not feel the loss of health yourself, due to very fast regen
there are also many options for spreading conditions and degeneration through-out a mob of foes. if ya want, shoot me a pm ingame, ill be happy to have a chat with you (although im not the most experienced necro)

yes it can become very energy expensive (15x3=45 energy out of 51) particularly if you cast on a target that is close to dead, you wont get the maximum effect of the AoE damage as such and wasted your cast and 15 energy (some of which will be returned with soul reaping). definately requires carefull selection of targets to have maximum effect over the duration.my first casting is generally on the elementalist then monk then ritualist and mesmer, which allows (in my own experience) the melee mobs to run for the minions which ill then recast SS and reckless haste on those
ive found with such quick deaths soul reaping energy gain can easily keep up the energy i need to continue casting.as a back-up and a huge help to my team i also take a *battery* hero to provide regeneration
many thanks to sab of course (i use the triple team with my monk, and sabs mm and ss builds +battery hero on my necro)

I find enfeebling blood to be MUCH more efficent than reckless haste for a couple reasons.
it affects foes nearby, not adjacent.
it weakens them, instead of giving them 25% to fail with attacks. with weakness, their base damage is lowered by 66% and all nonzero attributes by 1, which is far more useful than reckless, even though you MAY want the foes to attack faster for SS, i dont.
And its less energy and minimal recharge time

25% faster attack 50% chance to fail with reckless, but i know what you mean the effects of enfeebling which causes weakness definately has better potential. i dont know how it works precisely but i figure if a small bunch of foes are weakened with enfeebling and do less damage (condition) then adding reckless would make the weaker foes attack faster at the same time with higher chance of missing the attack, triggering the SS damage faster
up to personal preference of course everyone likes to play differently

[skill]Spiteful Spirit[/skill][skill]Reckless Haste[/skill][skill]Enfeebling Blood[/skill][skill]Mark Of Pain[/skill][skill]Parasitic Bond[/skill][skill]Signet Of Lost Souls[/skill]
Other 2 are optional.
12 + 1 + 1 Curses
12 + 1 Soul Reaping
Don't worry about bringing high energy spells on a necro, as long as you have high soul reaping (10+) and your party manages to kill things fast enough, energy won't be a problem.

curse hero is applying
[skill]Reckless Haste[/skill][skill]Enfeebling Blood[/skill][skill]Mark Of pain[/skill][skill]Barbs[/skill]
and MM hero using [skill]Jagged Bones[/skill] is spreading bleeding through the Minions
makes for lots of bleeding lesser damaging but faster attacking foes.soul reaping bonus kicks in or the battery helps out. rinse and repeat on next mob :P
